The Toyo Tires Classic is the Spec Miata Championship race that will take place at the 2018 National Auto Sport Association Championships presented by Toyo Tires. Drennan Dominates Sonoma Sizzler

With a season-high 36 entries, Spec Miata had the biggest field for the May event at Sonoma Raceway! Mark Drennan set pole with Justin Casey and Graham Downey close behind in morning qualifying. Toyo Tires and Flying Lizard Take on Pikes Peak

NASA Championships Attracting Record Fields

Entries to the NASA Championships presented by Toyo Tires are setting new records in a number of classes, and not just Spec Miata for the Toyo Tires Classic, which now has 91 cars entered. In 944 Spec, entries have surged to 19 total cars for 2018. This year will be a showdown among three competitors, Dan Piña, Marcelo Vine and John Pentelei-Molnar, all of whom have won championships. Toyo Tires Classic Entries Top 90 Cars

At press time, entries for the Toyo Tires Classic had reached 90 cars. Offering the largest purse in the history of amateur road racing, the Toyo Tires Classic seeks to attract at least 125 cars to maximize the prize money available to the winning driver. Upward of $80,000 is available if the entries exceed 115 cars. Because Circuit of the Americas limits the number of cars on track to 85, Spec Miata will be split into two run groups. More Than 400 Competitors Registered for NASA Championships

Registration for this year’s Championships at Circuit of the Americas has topped 400 cars in Time Trial and racing. NASA Appoints New Communication Director

Promoting from within, the National Auto Sport Association has appointed Brett Becker as its new communication director. In addition to his role as the editor of Speed News, the official publication of NASA, Becker will operate in a multifaceted role, from planning communication strategies that accompany NASA initiatives to assisting management in marketing events.
