NASA’s Race for the Pi in March at Road Atlanta started on Saturday with Grant West winning pole position with a 1:46.107, followed by Yan Dia, Keith Williamson, Connor DeYoung, Don Elvington and Bob Manker. On the start, West missed a shift heading to Turn 1, letting Dia by on the outside to pick up P1 followed by Williamson P3 and Connor DeYoung P4. NASA Arizona Donates Helmets to Medical Pros Testing for Coronavirus

NASA Arizona donated a few helmets to a doctor who runs a medical clinic in Phoenix. They are using them as added protection while they conduct drive-up COVID19 testing. They used the helmets as an added layer of protection while doing the drive up COVID19 testing. As the country battles the spread of the Coronavirus protective gear shortages are becoming more common. More physicians may need to get creative in finding ways to protect themselves, and visors down on helmets certainly qualifies as creative. HPDE Drivers Get Toyo Bucks For Climbing the HPDE Ladder

NASA and Toyo Tires have renewed the only contingency program of its kind in all of motorsports, where HPDE drivers qualify to receive Toyo Bucks for graduating from one level to the next. HPDE drivers get $100 in Toyo Bucks for moving from HPDE1 to HPDE2. In similar fashion, drivers get $200 for moving from HPDE1 to HPDE3 and $300 for going from HPDE3 to HPDE4. Zach Rubin Appointed Teen Mazda Challenge Series Director

The National Auto Sport Association has named Zach Rubin as the new series director for the Teen Mazda Challenge. Rubin takes over for James Brown, a SoCal driver and crew chief who had led the TMC since 2018. Zach Rubin is a 20-year-old student in his second year at Virginia Tech, where he is pursuing a degree in marketing. Rubin also is an active member of the university’s Formula SAE team. As our nation and our world plot a path through the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is working with state and local governments, facility managers, and medical professionals to ensure that the safety of our members comes first. Teen Mazda Challenge Driver Aiden Crouse and Veteran Pat Smith Split Spec Miata Wins at Carolina Motorsports Park

Cold weather for Saturday’s qualifying made for some fast times as Grant West claimed pole position with a below-track-record time of 1:50.331, followed by Aiden Crouse, Keith Williamson, Pat Smith and Yan Dia. At the start, the front of the field got through Turn 1 cleanly, with Crouse picking off West with an inside pass at Turn 2 and then beat him to Turn 3 to seal the deal.
